Summer Lovin’ in Wisconsin: Fill Your Summer with Fun in Tomah!

Summer in Wisconsin is a magical time, and there's no better place to experience a charming, small town summer than in Tomah. Nestled in the heart of Monroe County, Tomah offers a delightful blend of natural beauty, family-friendly activities, and vibrant community events that make it the perfect weekend summer destination. Whether you're looking to splash around at the Aquatic Center, enjoy a peaceful day by Lake Tomah, explore local flavors at the Farmers Market, or immerse yourself in the lively summer events, Tomah has a variety of activities. Here are some of the best ways to fill your summer with fun in our welcoming Wisconsin town.

The Aquatic Center at Buckley Park

A summer staple in Tomah when the weather gets hot is the Aquatic Center at Buckley Park. The center is perfect for cooling off in the water on those sunny summer days. With a six-lane pool, zero-depth entry area, three water slides, the kids’ favorite polar bear “Pete” slide, diving boards, and a splash pad for children under 48 inches, this is the place to make a summer splash. There are lounge chairs, picnic tables, a pavilion, and a playground area outside the center, so you can spend a whole summer day at the center and the park soaking up the sun and swimming!

Lake Tomah
Created in 1938, Lake Tomah is another great place to cool off in the water during the summer months and spend some time outdoors. The 251 acre lake has given local residents and visitors a great community resource where a mixture of activities can take place both on and around the lake. From fishing to kayaking to paddle boarding, there are plenty of ways to get out onto the lake, and there is an accessible boat landing that makes the process even easier. Lake fish include panfish, largemouth bass, and northern pike.

Farmers Market
The Tomah Farmers Market is held in Gillett Park on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 6:00 pm and Saturdays from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. It can be a great way to spend a summer evening or morning, as you peruse the produce, flowers, canned goods, and handcrafted products from all of the vendors. The fresh produce is especially great for having fresh, locally sourced foods for any gathering or outdoor cookout you may be planning. But each of the vendors has something great to discover!

Downtown Thursday Nights Concert Series
Held annually each summer, the Downtown Thursday Nights summer concert series is a must for visitors and locals! Live music is a vibrant and essential component of many communities, and Tomah, Wisconsin is no exception. A pop-up street concert series, Downtown Thursday Nights is presented by the Tomah Chamber and Visitors Center and features free admission, live music, food and drink vendors, beer booths, and a Kid Zone with face painting, caricatures, balloon animals, and bounce houses. The concert series runs the first three Thursday evenings of July and August from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, showcasing different bands each night.

Budweiser Dairyland Super National Truck and Tractor Pull
Summer in Tomah wouldn’t be complete without one of the most popular annual events, the Budweiser Dairyland Super National Truck and Tractor Pull. The event features five days of exciting pulls and fun at the tracks by top pullers from the US and Canada as they compete for the Super National titles. Visitors can join over 60,000 fans and tourists at the event this summer, as the experience draws both locals and travelers to Tomah each year. The main events take place on the two tracks, where spectators can watch top pullers compete in epic competitions with a range of motorized vehicles and pull classes at this premier event and prestigious competition on the NTPA Championship Pulling Circuit. Besides the two tracks, visitors can explore the flea market and craft show, and enjoy food and drinks while visiting some of the dozens of vendors who work the event.
